Vidyalaya runs usually for 3-4 hours for 6 days in a week with 1 teacher
To keep costs low, schools held mostly under a tree or village temple verandah
Teacher selected from the village selected and extensively trained
Ekal network of Master trainers at state level, district and at block level
Village level committee setup to monitor functioning and provide regular feedback
EKAL FOR EDUCATION
“If the poor boy cannot come to education, then education must go to him”.
The Ekal movement is the largest grassroots, non-government education movement in India, operating free schools in over 54,361 villages, as of Dec 2016 - educating over 1.45 million children annually in the poorest and remote corners of India.
The DFW Chapter of Ekal is thankful to our local community for their generosity in supporting literacy in 400+ Ekal villages every year, over the last 5 years.
