Ekal Vidyalayas are single-teacher schools spreading the light of education in Rural and Tribal India. The movement was started in early 1986 by followers of Swami Vivekananda. He mentioned in his writings about providing education to children who can not get education by conventional mediums.

Ekal Vidyalaya was registered as a 501(c)(3) charitable trust in United States in 1999. Today Ekal Vidyalaya stands over 27,000 schools and over 800,000 students in all states of India.
